Abrantes

Of course it was not a good result for me. I felt much better on swim but with all the rain, turn-arounds and fear in bike and lack of confidence in run made me feel like I could done better.

Apart of that the course is fine.

I'm continuing to loose some kilos to be faster. With one or two kilos less (and a little more effort on train) I had alreday seen some improvement in swimming (about 1min less to the last course in Peniche).

Michael Jackson

That's true Michael Jackson died yesterday night. I know that you've probably heard that hundred times.

He was a symbol for me in my early ages. I'm not saying that he had a good mentality (changing face colour and all that stuff were insane) but he had one of the best pop music of all time: energy, sound...

This song is from the time when the fame wasn't on his mind yet, for me the best times of his career.

Washington D.C. crash

People work at the scene where two transit trains were involved in a crash in Washington June 22, 2009. Two Washington, D.C., subway trains collided during the Monday afternoon rush hour, killing four people and injuring 70 in a mass of tangled metal.

Hot Times

Track workout with 40ºC is the best you could ever imagine.

You feel like your head is exploding and your feet are so hot that you could boil an egg there.

2Funny: Couch Potato Tri and Whale swim

1) Not every triathlon involves running, cycling and swimming. There are alternatives.

2)Figure out which is your best event — then forget about it.

Last week was billiant! It was a week of recover but I had amazing rides near Abrantes, and great swim workouts in Vila Nova da Barquinha.

These photo show this peaceful and quiet place, where I recovered some "body batteries":

Peniche and next days...

I really liked the Peniche Sprint triathlon. The place is very tempting.

And finally one triathlon with no stops: The first of the year was in ribatejo and i had a hole in a tyre and the second in quarteira I had this thing on my calf muscle.

I was 6th in my age group 20-24. Not bad for my third sprint triathlon of all time and for the first time in Peniche. But I was a bit frustrated with my time in the bike. That shows that I have a lot work to do!

Because the next two days are holiday in Portugal, I'll be in Abrantes and Barquinha for the next four days. Of course I'll carry all (running shoes, bike, things for swimming...)

Peniche - Age Group Championship

Tomorrow I'll be in the oldest and first triathlon in Portugal (26 years).

It'll be the Age-Group Championship and my age-group is 20-24 years, but i'm not 20 yet.

Hope the weather will help!

Ideas that spread worldwide

A hit in Paris, their bike-rental scheme is ready to be rolled out worldwide:

From Time Mag

Bicycles have become a mainstream — and very green — form of public transportation in the French capital. "They're highly ecological. They give out no emissions and you propel them with your own energy," notes Jean-Charles Decaux, co-chief executive of JCDecaux, the family-controlled outdoor advertising company that founded Vélib'.

Vélib is an enterprise that promoted this innovative bike-rental scheme in Paris.

Last days

On Saturday, what was supposed to be a lonely ride of only 2h changed to a 2h 40min ride with some ex-pro cyclists (I met Paulo Pais an ex-pro cyclist for 6 years that rode 2 Portugal's Volta).
It was a ride with a group of 50 but they were all pro's: don't put hands like this, you'd better do this way...

On Sunday, 3h 30min ride with two or three friends.

Today, to wake up i have already done a 4500m swim (to open my eyes a 30x 100m with 10x less than 1'30).

I've already finished all my classes now it's time for some study and exams.

Giro

Russia’s Denis Menchov won the Giro d’Italia despite falling during the final time trial on Sunday.
The Rabobank rider, twice a Tour of Spain winner, had led since the 12th stage of the three-week race.

Impressive moment of Menchov's crash on the last meters of the race:
